The European Money Week is timed to coincide with Global Money Week.

The first-ever European Money Week, organized by banking associations across Europe, is timed to coincide with Global Money Week, a global money awareness celebration initiated by Child & Youth Finance International, or CYFI.

Global Money Week is a global raising awareness flagship event on the importance of financial education, financial inclusion and entrepreneurship for children and young people. The campaign lasts between 9th to 17th of March and it is held around the world. In 2014, in only a week, 3 million children, 490 organizations in 117 countries participated in the celebrations (at national level, celebrations are coordinated by central banks). In 2015, the Global Money Week campaign is organised in partnership with OECD.

The Financial Education Project Group at the European Banking Federation is in regular contact with CYFI. Some individual members of the EBF participate directly in Global Money Week projects, as well as European Money Week.
